Hamas and Islamic Jihad warn of a new settlement plan targeting West Bank lands.

Hamas and Islamic Jihad warned of the danger of the statements and measures announced by the occupation’s finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich, regarding completing the takeover of the city of Hebron, considering them to be an unprecedented escalation aimed at entrenching the occupation and imposing its control over the lands of the West Bank.

Hamas described Smotrich’s statements as a dangerous political and field escalation aimed at stealing Palestinian lands and establishing a new settlement reality, stressing that these policies will not go unchallenged by popular and field resistance.

For its part, the Islamic Jihad Movement stressed that the occupation government’s decisions to confiscate all planning and building powers belonging to the Hebron municipality practically mean imposing absolute control over the Ibrahimi Mosque and religious sites in the city, and facilitating settlement expansion, considering this a blatant denial of signed agreements and international conventions and an additional step towards annexing the occupied West Bank.

Islamic Jihad held Arab and Islamic countries, especially those that have normalized relations with the occupation, responsible for the continuation of the entity’s criminal policies, calling for a unified stance to stop these plans and protect the holy sites.
