Red Cross Facilitates Transfer of Seven Released Detainees to Gaza, Renews Call to Visit Palestinian Detainees

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) announced on Monday that it facilitated the transfer of seven Palestinian detainees, released by “Israel” through the Kerem Shalom crossing, to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the Gaza Strip, and also helped them communicate and reunite with their families.

The ICRC stated in a press release that since 2023, it has facilitated the transfer of more than 2,500 released detainees through this mechanism, as part of its humanitarian efforts to support released detainees and their families, according to the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa).

The Committee reiterated that it has not been able to access Palestinian detainees held in Israeli detention centers since October 2023, stressing the need to be informed of the fate of all detainees and their locations, and to be allowed to visit them and check on their conditions.

It pointed out that many Palestinian families are still waiting for any information about their detained children, amid growing concerns over their health and safety, calling on “Israeli” authorities to allow it to resume its visits to all Palestinian detainees.

The ICRC noted that international humanitarian law stipulates the necessity of treating detainees humanely, providing them with appropriate detention conditions, and ensuring their ability to communicate with their families.
