The Israeli occupation army acknowledged on Sunday the death of an officer and the injury of a soldier in an armed clash in southern Lebanon.
An Israeli army spokesman said: “An officer with the rank of captain, a platoon commander in the 12th Battalion of the Golani Brigade, was killed, and another soldier was wounded during a battle in the town of Deir Siryan in southern Lebanon.”
Details of the clash in Deir Siryan
For its part, Israel’s Channel 15 revealed some details of the clash that took place in the town of Deir Siryan.
The channel said that “around 02:00 am, Golani Brigade fighters encountered a Hezbollah operative while entering to investigate a suspected target/person in the Deir Siryan area,” adding: “As a result of the clash, Captain David Hazut was killed, and another fighter sustained minor injuries, after which he was transferred for medical treatment, and his family was notified.”
She also noted that “after the incident, the forces began combing operations in search of the Hezbollah member, and targeted objectives in the area, while efforts to eliminate the Hezbollah member are still ongoing, and the forces continue combing operations in the area.”
The Israeli occupation army continues its attacks on southern Lebanon by launching raids from warplanes and drones, dropping bombs from helicopters, carrying out artillery shelling, as well as ground movements accompanied by setting fires and explosions aimed at destroying homes, despite the “framework agreement” between the Lebanese and Israeli occupation governments.
In contrast, the resistance has announced more than once, in successive statements, that it is monitoring the occupation’s violation of the ceasefire agreement to which it has adhered so far.
