Hamas: World silence over murdered children in Gaza is complicity in Israeli genocide
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem condemned the international inaction after a young girl was killed on Monday evening in Khan Yunis, to the south of the Gaza Strip, following an Israeli airstrike that hit tents sheltering displaced families and set them ablaze.
In a press statement, Qassem said the child joins “the tens of thousands of children” who have been killed during the Israeli war on the enclave through bombardment, starvation, denial of medical treatment, fear, and the loss of one or both parents.
He said these events are unfolding while “the world watches and listens without taking action,” criticizing the response of the Arab League, political parties, parliaments, religious scholars, and intellectuals across the Arab world, as well as the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah, which he accused of standing by as the events unfold.
Qassem added that those who have remained silent over the course of the conflict “will be accountable before the Almighty” for failing to act, saying their silence has continued in the face of the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
