An unforgettable memory and crimes that will not be forgotten… July 11th is a renewed witness to the crimes of the American-Saudi-Emirati aggression.
July 11th marks a new chapter in the memory of Yemen, a country burdened by years of aggression. The events of this day document a wide range of crimes committed by the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression against civilians and civilian infrastructure in several Yemeni governorates. Since 2015, this date has been repeatedly marked by airstrikes targeting homes, markets, factories, roads, bridges, and farms, accompanied by artillery and missile shelling of border villages and residential neighborhoods. This reflects a systematic policy that has gone beyond targeting the front lines to encompass all aspects of life.
The successive events reveal that July 11th was not just another day of aggression, but another page in a long record filled with massacres and violations that left dozens of martyrs and wounded, and caused widespread destruction to the infrastructure and economic and service facilities, to remain a witness to the extent of the suffering that Yemenis have lived through throughout the years of aggression.
2015.. Civilians, factories and roads in the crosshairs of airstrikes
July 11, 2015 witnessed a wide escalation in various governorates, as nine citizens were martyred as a result of a raid that targeted the Fadha and Al-Juraybat areas in Al-Bayda Governorate. The aggression aircraft also targeted a car carrying women and two fuel tankers on the public road in Al-Bayda city.
In Taiz Governorate, two children were killed and six citizens were injured as a result of the bombing of a citizen’s house in Al-Ta’iziyah District, while the raids targeted Al-Arba’een Street, the vicinity of Jabal Jarrah, Jabal Al-Zanouj, Al-Dhabab and Ma’awiyah Junction, causing the complete destruction of six houses and damage to a number of other houses and vehicles.
The bombing extended to the capital, Sana’a, where airstrikes targeted Mount Nuqum and the outpatient clinics of the military hospital. The spinning and weaving factory – one of the oldest factories in the Arabian Peninsula and the Gulf – was also directly bombed, resulting in serious damage, in an attack that targeted one of the most important industrial facilities in the country.
In Aden Governorate, the raids targeted a truck loaded with food supplies on the main road in Al-Arish city, as well as the port of Aden and the Al-Basateen and Al-Mualla areas. The raids also hit areas in Lahj Governorate, and the Haradh and Midi districts in Hajjah Governorate. Buildings and bridges in the Al-Naqba area of Shabwa Governorate were also targeted, causing significant damage to the infrastructure.
2016-2017: Expansion of targeting and continued bombing of governorates
In 2016, the aggression aircraft continued its raids on the Sarwah market and the Al-Ashqari area in the Sarwah district of Marib Governorate, and the Abs district in Hajjah Governorate. It also targeted the Al-Majawha and Al-Salta areas, the Nihm district, and the Beit Allal village in Sana’a Governorate.
This coincided with artillery and missile shelling carried out by mercenaries on a number of areas in Marib, in a clear continuation of targeting civilian areas and populated villages.
In 2017, the air force launched six raids on Al-Maton district and two raids on Al-Hamidat district in Al-Jawf governorate, in addition to six other raids on Haradh and Midi districts in Hajjah governorate, leaving widespread damage to citizens’ property.
2018… a year of massacres and targeting of homes, markets, and roads
The year 2018 stands out as one of the bloodiest years on this day, as a citizen was killed and another was injured after two trucks were targeted in the Monday market in Al-Qubaita district in Lahj governorate, and the A’arim area was also subjected to another raid.
In Saada province, two citizens were killed and a woman and a child were injured as a result of an air raid by the aggression aircraft that targeted a house in the Al-Qahr area of Baqim district, while three citizens were killed and a fourth was injured in an air raid on the Al-Aqiq area in Kataf district.
One of the sons of the Shada border district was killed by Saudi border guard fire, and a woman was killed and her husband and daughter were injured as a result of missile and artillery shelling that targeted residential areas in the Razih district, while the Razih, Munabbih and Shada districts were subjected to intensive shelling that caused widespread damage to citizens’ property.
The air force launched a series of raids on the areas of Al-Atfin, Alaf, Al-Buqa and Al-Waqish in Saada Governorate, coinciding with a raid on the Al-Tala’a site in Najran.
