From targeting civilians to destroying the foundations of life… July 22nd is a renewed testament to the crimes of the American-Saudi-Emirati aggression against Yemen and the Yemeni people.
Every year, July 22nd brings to mind one of the dark chapters in the record of the American-Saudi-Emirati aggression against Yemen. On this day, and throughout the years of aggression, dozens of crimes were committed that directly targeted civilians, and affected roads, bridges, service facilities, and public utilities, in a systematic attempt to disrupt the foundations of life and paralyze the movement, transportation, and supply of citizens.
The documented facts of this day reveal that the attacks were not limited to aerial bombardment, but extended to missile and artillery shelling, shooting at border areas, and targeting homes, markets, means of transport, communications networks and water projects, in a continuous series of violations that left hundreds of victims, martyrs and wounded, and caused widespread destruction of public and private property, remaining a new witness to the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe imposed by the aggression on Yemen.
2015: Targeting farmers and travelers, and destroying roads and bridges
July 22, 2015 witnessed one of the bloodiest days, as seven citizens were killed when the aggression aircraft targeted a car that was transporting them on the public road in the Al-Qandh’a area of Na’man district in Al-Bayda governorate while they were heading to sell their agricultural crops, in a crime that embodied the targeting of citizens’ livelihoods and their daily lives.
In Sana’a Governorate, two citizens were killed and eight others were injured as a result of the bombing of the Hodeidah-Sana’a road in the Al-Manar area of Al-Haymah Al-Kharijiyah district, while seven citizens were killed by a bombing carried out by a Saudi Apache helicopter that targeted a civilian car in the Shada triangle in Sa’dah Governorate.
The attacks extended to infrastructure, as the air force launched a raid on the Al-Qafal area, and fired missiles and bombs at multiple areas in Saada. It also targeted the Al-Hamza camp in Maytam in Ibb Governorate with seven raids, and launched raids on the Hawari Wadi Khaywan area in the Houth district in Amran, which led to the destruction of a vital bridge linking the governorates of Amran and Saada, which represented a direct targeting of transportation and mobility networks.
2016.. Bombing of bridges, crossings and service facilities
On July 22, 2016, the aggression continued its policy of targeting infrastructure, destroying the Al-Majza’a Bridge in Qafleh Adhar District in Amran, and also targeting the Al-Abisa Bridge in Kushar District, and launching three raids on the Al-Tuwal crossing and the city of Haradh in Hajjah Governorate.
In Taiz Governorate, a citizen was injured by artillery shelling that targeted Al-Sarari village, an ancient mosque and the Gharab area, while the air force launched raids on Al-Amri, Al-Mukha and Haifan, leaving widespread damage.
The Sarwah district in Marib governorate was subjected to four raids accompanied by missile and artillery shelling of citizens’ homes and farms, while the raids targeted the Majz district in Saada, the Al-Ghayl district in Al-Jawf, and areas in Lahj governorate, while the mercenaries continued to bombard the Nihm district in Sanaa governorate.
2017: Targeting of borders and airports and a large-scale escalation on the west coast
On July 22, 2017, a citizen was killed by Saudi border guards in the Ayash area of the Munabbih border district in Saada Governorate, coinciding with raids that targeted the districts of Kataf, Razih, Majz and Shada, causing significant damage to citizens’ property.
Hajjah Governorate witnessed a wide escalation represented by 16 raids targeting the Haradh and Midi districts, while the air force targeted Hodeidah International Airport with four raids, and launched two raids on Kamaran Island, in a continuation of targeting civilian facilities and vital installations.
2018… Women in the crosshairs of airstrikes and service facilities under bombardment
On July 22, 2018, a woman was killed and another was injured in an airstrike that targeted a house in the Ghafra area of Al-Dhaher district in Saada governorate. Another woman was injured by Saudi missile and artillery shelling on Munabbih district, while Razih and Baqim districts were subjected to continuous shelling that targeted residential areas.
The air force targeted the police camp in Saada city, and also bombed the Nashour water project in Al-Safra district, in a direct attack on service facilities, and launched four raids on the technical institute in Dhi Sahar in Ans d
