July 24th… when cities and villages became open targets for the American-Saudi-Emirati aggression
July 24th was not just another day in the annals of the American-Saudi-Emirati aggression against Yemen, but rather a new chapter in a long series of crimes targeting the Yemeni people and everything related to their lives and livelihoods. From the very first year of the aggression, homes, markets, farms, factories, bridges, roads, and government and service facilities became direct targets of airstrikes and shelling. This systematic policy went beyond targeting military sites to encompass infrastructure and the essentials of daily life, leaving hundreds of civilian casualties and widespread destruction that has affected various governorates.
This report reviews, in chronological order, the most prominent crimes committed on this day during the years of aggression, which reflect the magnitude of the human tragedy experienced by Yemenis, and confirm that targeting civilians and vital facilities has remained a consistent approach of the aggression throughout the years of war.
2015.. Airstrikes target civilians and vital facilities in several governorates
On July 24, 2015, the aggression aircraft expanded its targeting to include a large number of governorates, committing bloody crimes against civilians and causing widespread destruction of public and private property.
In Saada province, two citizens were killed and five others were injured as a result of raids that targeted the Haydan area and Wadi Awf in Majz district and Haydan market, while the air force launched 44 intensive raids on the areas of Al-Qata’a, Al-Fara’ and Al-Malil in Kataf district, in addition to the areas of Tarish, Nawas and Aramah in Saqin district, in one of the most violent waves of bombing that the province has witnessed.
In Amran Governorate, one citizen was killed and others were injured as a result of targeting the home of the Deputy Governor, Saleh Abu Awja, in Al-Ashah District.
In Al-Bayda, four citizens were killed as a result of raids targeting the Dhi Na’im district. The bombing also hit the government complex in Al-Bayda city and the Al-Zahir and Al-Tafah districts, leaving serious damage to government facilities and citizens’ homes.
In Hajjah Governorate, two citizens were injured as a result of raids targeting the Hayran area and the Ahem Triangle in Haradh District.
The bombing extended to the southern governorates, where Dar Saad, Madain Hail, Al Madina Al Khadra and Sheikh Othman in Aden were subjected to successive raids, while the raids targeted Al Husayni area, Al Houta city and Al Anad Air Base in Lahj Governorate.
The raids also targeted Marib Governorate, targeting the areas of Kofel, Jufaynah and Sahn al-Jin, in addition to the districts of Ataq and Markha in Shabwa Governorate, and Lawdar district in Abyan Governorate, in a broad escalation that included most of the Yemeni geography.
2016.. Targeting homes, markets, bridges and farms
On this day in 2016, the aggression aircraft committed a new massacre in Al-Mukha district in Taiz governorate, after targeting a house and destroying it completely, which led to the martyrdom of ten citizens and the injury of others, including women and children.
In Hajjah Governorate, the air force targeted the Al-Abisa Bridge in Kushar District, resulting in the injury of one citizen and the disappearance of two children. It also launched three raids on Haradh District and Wadi Mur, causing widespread damage to homes and agricultural lands, coinciding with Saudi missile and artillery shelling that targeted the Haradh crossing.
Saada Governorate witnessed direct targeting of the agricultural sector, as the air force bombed refrigerators designated for cooling vegetables and fruits in the Ahma Al-Talh and Al-Saifi areas of Sahar district. It also launched four raids on the Al-Atfin area and one raid on the Al-Malil area, causing widespread destruction to farms and properties, in addition to targeting the home of a citizen in the city of Dhahyan.
In Marib, the raids targeted citizens’ homes in the Al-Mafateh area and Sarwah district, while a raid hit the Al-Aqaba area and the Al-Sabreen area in Khabb wa ash-Shaaf district in Al-Jawf governorate.
The mercenaries of the aggression also carried out sniper operations against civilians in the village of Al-Sarari in Taiz Governorate, coinciding with artillery and missile shelling that targeted the Nehm district in Sana’a Governorate, while the Kahbub area in Lahj Governorate was subjected to a new air raid.
2017.. Bombing of government institutions, communications networks and citizens’ homes
In 2017, the aggression continued its systematic targeting of infrastructure and civilian facilities.
