UNRWA: One Million Children in Gaza Living Amid Hunger and Displacement

5

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) confirmed today, Tuesday, that children in the Gaza Strip constitute about half of the population, with their lives marked by “war and destruction.”

In a statement, the UN agency said:
“Children make up half the population in Gaza (which totals 2.4 million people), and their lives are defined by war and devastation.”

The agency explained that children spend their days outside of classrooms, are forced into repeated displacement, and can barely find enough to eat.

It emphasized the urgent need for a “ceasefire in the Gaza Strip for the sake of the children and for a better future for the region.”
