Yemeni Operations in the Red Sea Deepen Israel’s Naval Isolation

6

The British site Middle East Eye has revealed that Yemeni operations in the Red Sea have thwarted Israel’s attempts to persuade global insurance firms to cover vessels bound for its ports, owing to the escalating risks.

Companies such as Travelers have refused to renew war‑risk policies, inflicting heavy losses and forcing ships to reroute around the Cape of Good Hope despite its much higher costs.

The report also highlighted a decline in international shippers’ confidence in the Western protection framework, with insurers avoiding coverage for any vessels with even indirect ties to Israel.
