Hamas leader: No point in accelerating Gaza agreement while Israeli violations, obstacles continue

Hamas leader Mahmoud Mardawi stated on Monday that the movement welcomes any path that would effectively halt the aggression and compel the Israeli entity to implement the agreement’s terms. He emphasized that there is no point in accelerating the agreement’s implementation while Israeli violations continue and the first phase remains unfulfilled.

In a press statement, Mardawi added that the movement calls on the United States and mediators to intervene to stop the repeated obstruction by the government of war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court. He urged them to work towards implementing the first phase’s requirements and immediately move to the second phase in a spirit of faithful commitment to the agreement’s terms, according to the Palestine Online website.

He pointed out that Netanyahu’s government continues to create obstacles through relentless violations, along with attempts to exert pressure to change the entire agreement’s framework, thus undermining the chances of progress towards a genuine ceasefire.

Mardawi affirmed that Hamas has agreed to the formation of a Palestinian technocratic committee based on national consensus and within the framework of Palestinian authority, without any external interference. He stressed the need to expedite its formation and the acceptance of its members to enable it to address the growing challenges posed by the enemy’s actions.

Regarding the issue of the resistance’s weapons, he clarified that weapons are linked to the establishment of a Palestinian state, and that any credible political process leading to the establishment of a Palestinian state will make that state the sole entity authorized to manage this issue.

Mardawi emphasized that the problem does not lie with the resistance, but rather with the Zionist entity, which refuses to fulfill its obligations in the first phase and obstructs the transition to the second phase. He affirmed that the Palestinian resistance factions are striving to implement the agreement with a high degree of responsibility and in a manner that serves the interests of the Palestinian people.
