Italian Maritime Website: America Under the Radar in the Red Sea — and It Must Be Aware of It

The website Blueconomy confirmed that the greatest maritime challenge is not escalation itself against Iran, but rather an escalation whose consequences have not been fully thought through—especially when the first to pay the price are the maritime shipping industry and insurance companies. The Italian outlet, which specializes in maritime navigation affairs, noted that the United States is being closely monitored in the strategic maritime zone at the heart of the Middle East by the Sana’a forces, which are well known for their capabilities. It stated that Yemeni forces have repeatedly demonstrated their ability to strike ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. The report pointed out that although Sana’a is not entirely “under the radar,” Washington takes it into account in all of its calculations, particularly in the event of any action against Iran. Martin Kelly, Head of Advisory at EOS Risk Group, said: “From a maritime perspective, the repercussions are serious. The maritime system represents a ‘pressure point,’ and such attacks cause damage far greater than the scale of the incidents that trigger them.” He added: “The global maritime system is lightly protected and naturally highly sensitive to this type of pressure. A small number of widely dispersed incidents—such as those that occurred in the Red Sea—can generate effects that extend far beyond their immediate location.”
