Parliament Condemns U.S. Escalation and Affirms Iran’s Right to Protect Its Sovereignty
The Presidium of the House of Representatives, in its meeting held today, Sunday, chaired by the Speaker of Parliament and Head of the Presidium, Yahya Ali Al-Raei, condemned the American escalation in the region, the fueling of conflict, and the threat it poses to regional security and stability.
The Presidium described the threats issued by the criminal U.S. administration president, Trump, against the Islamic Republic of Iran as a blatant interference in Iran’s internal affairs, a violation of its sovereignty, a challenge to the will of the international community, and a grave breach of international law, norms, and moral and humanitarian principles.
It affirmed Yemen’s leadership and people’s solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran and support for its deterrent options against the United States, calling on regional and international unions and parliaments to denounce U.S. actions.
The Presidium warned of the dangers of U.S. escalation in the region, stressing that it threatens global peace and security more than it threatens Iran, and urged all parties to stand united against American and Zionist arrogance that would drive the world toward destruction and devastation.
It also affirmed Iran’s right to confront U.S. threats and to deliver a painful and forceful response to any aggression or recklessness by the Trump administration, rejecting capitulation to opportunistic American and Zionist demands.
The Presidium called on peoples, states, and all free individuals worldwide to break the shameful silence and false neutrality, confront American arrogance, put an end to Western hegemony over the resources and peoples of the region and the oppressed worldwide, reject what the Islamic nation in general—and the Islamic Republic of Iran in particular—is being subjected to, and remain vigilant against the plots and schemes of the United States and Israel.
It urged the sons of the Islamic nation to mobilize, prepare, maintain high readiness, and respond to the call for jihad in the path of God, asserting that the nation will not attain dignity except by reviving it and confronting the dangers threatening the nation and its holy sites.
The Presidium renewed its warning against the continued excesses of the Zionist enemy entity in committing acts of genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, most recently the blatant aggression that targeted civilians and civilian objects yesterday, resulting in dozens of martyrs and injured, most of them women and children.
It considered the targeting of civilians and civilian objects by the Zionist enemy a flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement and of all international norms, conventions, and laws.
The Presidium held the United States fully legally and morally responsible for the crimes committed against the Palestinian people, considering it a principal partner of the Zionist entity in its crimes and ongoing aggression against Palestinians.
During the meeting, the Presidium discussed items on its agenda related to the Council’s legislative and oversight duties, including matters concerning the General Secretariat, and took the necessary decisions.
It also discussed a memorandum submitted by the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry regarding non-compliance with the provisions of the signed agreement between the Federation and the relevant government bodies concerning the mechanism for collecting the general sales tax, value-added tax, and commercial profits tax on imported goods.
The Presidium approved holding a joint meeting with the government side, the General Authority for Zakat, and representatives of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry to discuss the matter and develop appropriate solutions and remedies in line with current challenges and to address the repercussions of the aggression, the blockade, and their consequences.
The meeting was attended by the Assistant Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, Abdulrahman Al-Mansour.
