The remnants of aggression continue to claim innocent lives: A child injured by an explosion of unexploded ordnance in Al-Durayhimi, Hodeidah.

In yet another crime added to the long list of atrocities committed by the aggression, a child was injured by an explosion of unexploded ordnance in Al-Durayhimi district, Hodeidah governorate. This incident underscores the ongoing danger posed by these remnants of war to the lives of civilians, especially children, despite the years that have passed since the cessation of direct fighting in several areas.

A local source reported that an unexploded ordnance detonated south of Al-Kou’i village in Al-Durayhimi district, injuring four-year-old Bashar Muhammad Ayash Ma’rouf in his right hand. He was near the site of the explosion at the time.

The source explained that the child was taken to a hospital to receive necessary medical treatment. Meanwhile, large areas of the district, like many other districts along the western coast, continue to suffer from the widespread presence of unexploded ordnance.

This incident underscores that the remnants of war are ticking time bombs threatening the lives of civilians daily, particularly in residential areas and agricultural lands upon which citizens depend for their livelihoods, amidst the absence of any serious international action to address this humanitarian catastrophe.
