Civil Defense: Gaza Strip lacks safety, prevention equipment after Israeli enemy destruction

The Director of the Safety and Prevention Department at the Civil Defense Directorate in the Gaza Strip, Mohammed Shreir, confirmed on Monday that the Strip is currently devoid of safety and prevention equipment after it was destroyed by the Israeli enemy during the ongoing war on Gaza, which has lasted for more than two years.

In a press statement, Shreir warned of the dangers of fires in the commercial sector, which is struggling to recover after being devastated by the Israeli enemy during its ongoing war on Gaza.

He called for the urgent entry of safety and prevention equipment for workshops, industrial facilities, and commercial establishments into the Gaza Strip, which is besieged by the Israeli enemy army.

He pointed out that owners of workshops and establishments, especially those with hazardous operations such as gas and fuel stations, are facing significant difficulties in obtaining safety equipment due to the enemy’s continued refusal to allow its entry into the Gaza Strip.

He emphasized that the already fragile commercial and industrial sector faces significant threats, especially given the numerous large fires that have broken out in recent days in commercial warehouses containing food supplies. These fires destroyed all the contents, due to the owners’ inability to implement safety procedures and the limited capacity of the Civil Defense to respond to such large-scale blazes.

The Director of the Safety and Prevention Department called on the countries sponsoring the ceasefire agreement to pressure Israel to allow the entry of safety equipment and supplies into the Gaza Strip.

He also urged owners of businesses, warehouses, and fuel and gas stations to implement safety measures to the fullest extent possible, ensure proper storage of food supplies, and take great care to eliminate potential fire hazards in their workplaces.
