February 10th: A Wound That Will Not Heal in Yemen’s Body and a Memory That Time Cannot Erase

February 10th marks a bloody chapter in the history of the American-Saudi-Emirati aggression against Yemen. On this day, and throughout the years of aggression, scenes of systematic targeting of civilians—children, women, journalists, and farmers—have been repeated, along with the destruction of infrastructure, homes, farms, and livelihoods, in flagrant violation of all international and humanitarian laws and norms.

2016: Targeting Families, Aid, and Media

On February 10, 2016, the aggression committed one of its most heinous crimes against families and the media, with the martyrdom of television director Munir al-Hakimi, his wife Suad Hajira, and their three children, following two airstrikes that targeted the Beit Ma’yad residential area on Taiz Street in the capital, Sana’a.

In Saada, an aid convoy was targeted in the Ghamr district, resulting in the deaths of two civilians. Three more civilians were killed in Haydan, and another civilian was killed by a Saudi missile strike in Baqim. This coincided with a wave of airstrikes that destroyed homes and property in Haydan, Saqayn, and Sahar.

The attacks extended to Bedouin camps and shepherds in Al-Jawf, and to agricultural lands in Nihm and Sanhan, reaching as far as Mocha, where drones launched several attacks.

2017: Cluster Bombs and the Targeting of Children
On February 10, 2017, children were killed and injured by remnants of the aggression in Al-Jawf, in a crime whose effects continue to be felt. Civilian vehicles in Saada were also targeted by direct airstrikes, some using cluster bombs, in addition to heavy shelling that targeted communication networks, farms, and residential areas.

In Hodeidah, the airstrikes expanded to include the airport, the port, Al-Jubana, and Bajil, as part of a systematic policy of economic and service-related strangulation.

2018: The Border: An Open Stage for Killing

In 2018, Saudi border guards continued their direct killings of civilians in Saada, alongside dozens of airstrikes on border districts, the destruction of vehicles, homes, and farms, and missile and artillery shelling that targeted populated villages in Munabbih and Razih.

The attacks also extended to Al-Jawf, Hajjah, Al-Hudaydah, and Sana’a, confirming the widening scope of the indiscriminate targeting.

2019: Direct Killings and Intense Bombardment

On February 10, 2019, Ibrahim Badi was killed by Saudi border guards in Razih, while Saada witnessed one of the most intense waves of missile and artillery shelling on villages and farms.

Airstrikes also targeted Amran, Hajjah, and Al-Jawf, while the Al-Durayhimi district and the city of Al-Hudaydah were subjected to intense shelling with artillery and heavy machine guns.

2020: A Comprehensive Escalation of Attacks on Cities and Residential Areas

The year 2020 witnessed a widespread escalation, with airstrikes targeting Saada, Sana’a, Marib, and Al-Jawf, alongside intense shelling of residential areas in Hodeidah. This included the July 7th district, 50th Street, Al-Halqa Market, and Hodeidah Airport, resulting in the destruction of homes, the burning of others, and significant losses of civilian property.

2021-2022: Continued Systematic Killing and Destruction

In 2021 and 2022, direct killings continued along the borders, along with intensified airstrikes on Marib, Saada, Sana’a, Hajjah, and Hodeidah. These were accompanied by field crimes committed by the aggressors’ mercenaries, including attacks on civilian homes and the killing of civilians under the pretext of searches—a scene that exemplifies the collapse of any moral or legal commitment.

2023: Ongoing Aggression with Different Tools

On February 10, 2023, reconnaissance aircraft continued to target the Hays district, coinciding with combat fortifications and artillery shelling in Al-Jabalya and Al-Tuhayta. This confirms that the aggression, though its methods have changed, remains fundamentally the same in its essence and objectives.

A Systematic War of Extermination and Attrition

The crimes of February 10 clearly reveal that the American-Saudi-Emirati aggression was not merely a military war, but rather a systematic war of extermination and attrition targeting the Yemeni people’s lives, security, and livelihoods, in a failed attempt to break their will and resilience.
