Al-Bayda Governorate Security: One of the leaders of an armed gang killed during a security operation to thwart an attempt to incite chaos in Rada’a

The Al-Bayda Governorate Security Department reported that an armed gang of outlaws, wanted by security agencies in several criminal cases, threatened shop owners in the central market and other areas of Rada’a city on Saturday evening, August 26, 1447 AH (February 14, 2026). They attempted to force the shop owners, at gunpoint, to close their shops and stage a strike to demand the release of several gang members convicted of assaulting security personnel, killing soldier Suwad Saleh Al-Rayami, and injuring other members of the district security forces on January 25, 1447 AH (July 20, 2025).

The Governorate Security Department explained that after receiving complaints from shop owners, a security patrol was dispatched to the area to maintain security and prevent the gang members from carrying out their plan to incite chaos and disrupt public order.

He confirmed that members of the gang opened heavy fire from multiple directions on security personnel as they passed through the main street, forcing the officers to return fire. An armed confrontation ensued, resulting in the death of one of the gang leaders, Abdullah Hassan al-Halimi, nicknamed “Abli,” while the remaining members fled.

The provincial security forces indicated that security operations are ongoing to track down and apprehend the remaining gang members and bring them to justice. They emphasized that there will be no leniency towards anyone who dares to threaten the lives, security, and property of citizens or disturb public order.
