Abdul-Salam Congratulates the Iranian People on the Election of the Third Leader
Head of Yemen’s National Delegation, Mohammed Abdulsalam, has congratulated the Iranian people on the constitutional selection of Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the third leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In a statement on Monday, Abdulsalam said the decision comes amid exceptional wartime and security circumstances facing the Islamic Republic.
He noted that the move reflects the Iranian people’s and institutions’ firm commitment to the path of the founding imam and the legacy of the martyred leader Sayyed Ali Khomeini, who devoted most of his life to serving his nation and leading Iran’s modern renaissance, leaving behind a lasting legacy of scientific, intellectual, and humanitarian contributions.
Abdulsalam described the election of a third leader as a “resounding blow” to the forces of global arrogance, the US and the Israeli entity, stressing that attempts to weaken Iran through assassinations and aggression have failed.
He added that Iran, at the popular, revolutionary, and institutional levels, remains stronger than the “Zionist-American military machine,” and that the country continues to grow stronger through its revolution and the sacrifices of its people.
He also reaffirmed Yemen’s solidarity with Iran in confronting US-Israeli aggression, warning that such actions target not only Iran but the entire region and the Palestinian cause.
Abdulsalam said the objective of the aggression is to impose dominance over the region in favor of Israel, urging the peoples of the region to recognize the seriousness of the current stage and support Iran in its defense of Palestine and the future of the region.
The selection of Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Ali Khamenei as the third Supreme Leader of Iran follows the martyrdom of his father, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, in US-Israeli airstrikes on February 28, 2026.
His appointment comes amid heightened regional tensions, with ongoing American-Zionist aggression against Iran that also claimed the lives of several family members. The United States had previously imposed sanctions on Mojtaba Khamenei in 2019.
This marks only the second leadership transition in the Islamic Republic’s history since the 1979 revolution, signaling the continuation of Iran’s path of resistance against the global arrogance and tyranny.
