In a practical embodiment of the path of construction and solidarity established by the September 21 Revolution, health and community initiatives continue across various governorates, translating the principles of the national project into tangible reality that serves humanity, alleviates suffering, and strengthens social cohesion in the face of challenges.
Medical Camp in Al-Zuhra
In Hodeidah Governorate, the 26th free medical camp for ophthalmology and eye surgery was launched in Al-Zuhra District. Organized by the Grameen Yemen Foundation in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Environment and its office in the governorate, the camp aims to provide examinations, tests, and cataract removal and lens implantation surgeries for more than a thousand patients from Al-Ma’ras area and surrounding regions. This initiative contributes to expanding access to medical services for those in need.
350 Surgeries and Services
Camp Director Nasr Al-Dabab explained that the camp’s services include free examinations and medication, in addition to performing surgeries on 350 patients, with the participation of a select group of doctors and consultants specializing in ophthalmology.
He noted that the first two days were dedicated to conducting examinations, identifying cases requiring surgical intervention, and subjecting them to the necessary pre-operative tests to ensure the provision of accurate and safe medical services.
8,255 Surgeries in the Field
This camp is an extension of 25 previous medical camps organized by the Grameen Yemen Medical Center, during which 8,255 free cataract removal and lens implantation surgeries were performed, benefiting patients from the most vulnerable and low-income groups.
This number reflects the scale of the ongoing efforts to provide healthcare and the continuation of humanitarian work to reach the largest possible segment of beneficiaries.
Hamdan… Community Initiatives
In Sana’a Governorate, the Public Works Department in Hamdan District carried out road construction, surveying, and leveling work on several streets through a community initiative, reflecting the spirit of cooperation and solidarity between the community and relevant authorities.
The district director, Fahd Attia, explained that the community contributed 70% of the fuel costs, while the Public Works Department contributed 30%, in addition to providing the equipment. The work continued for three days.
Field Work to Alleviate Suffering
The Public Works official in Hamdan, Engineer Abed Shaya, stated that several service projects were implemented, including surveying and leveling a 16-meter-wide street, 200 meters long, in Neighborhood Unit 675 in the Al-Sawda Shamlan area, and surveying and leveling a 14-meter-wide street, 110 meters long, in the same area. Additionally, work was carried out on a 20-meter-wide street, 250 meters long, in the Al-Mahjar Al-A’la Dhala’ area, and on a 24-meter-wide street, 350 meters long, in the Zainab Al-Jari’a neighborhood.
The work also included removing debris and dirt from both sides of the main road, contributing to improved services and facilitating the movement of citizens.
