Al-Barsh Warns Of A Health Catastrophe In Gaza Due To The Depletion Of Medicines And Supplies For Treating Thousands Of Patients.
The Director General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Munir Al-Barsh, warned on Sunday of a worsening humanitarian and health catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, due to the depletion of essential medicines and medical supplies, which threatens the lives of thousands of patients in hospitals and primary care centers.
Al-Barsh said in a post on the X platform that the ministry now has “very large percentages of zero lists” for medicines and medical supplies, noting that this severe shortage directly affects the ability of medical staff to provide basic services.
He explained that diabetic patients are the most affected, as more than 11,000 patients face a direct risk due to the unavailability of insulin syringes, which disrupts the continuation of their daily treatment.
He added that more than 250 kidney failure patients will not be able to receive dialysis sessions due to a shortage of “by-bags”, while more than 110 hemophilia patients are threatened with continuous bleeding as a result of the unavailability of the clotting factor, which poses a direct threat to their lives.
He pointed out that between 8 and 10 children with kidney dialysis are facing an uncertain fate due to the shortage of blood dialysis filters, stressing that the continuation of this situation puts the health sector in front of an unprecedented crisis.
Al-Barsh called on international institutions and relevant health authorities to intervene urgently to provide medicines and vital supplies that have reached zero stock.
