Ajeisa: Preparations Are Ongoing To Launch New Flotillas To Break The Gaza Blockade.
The head of the International Committee to Break the Siege on Gaza, Youssef Ajissa, revealed on Sunday that preparations have begun for launching new flotillas towards the Gaza Strip, as part of ongoing efforts to break the siege imposed on the Strip, despite the obstacles and ongoing violations.
Ajeisa explained, in a statement to the Palestinian “Sanad News Agency”, that the Israeli enemy’s assessments that intercepting ships and detaining participants might stop these solidarity movements are “incorrect”, stressing that new maritime initiatives are being prepared by several countries, and will continue as long as the siege is in place.
He pointed out that the “Freedom and Steadfastness Flotilla” contributed to breaking the international silence and drawing attention to the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza, adding that the participants “succeeded in conveying a clear message about the extent of global solidarity with the sector.”
He stressed that the organizing committees are working on studying past experiences and overcoming the obstacles that recent flotillas faced, with the aim of ensuring that future attempts reach the shores of Gaza, “even if only with one ship.”
He stressed that the main goal of these moves is to reach the people of Gaza and alleviate their suffering, expressing his hope that “freedom is closer than anyone expects.”
Ajeisa praised the popular and artistic events that took place in the Gaza Strip during the past few days in support of the Freedom Flotilla and its participants, considering that they reflect the extent of popular solidarity with these initiatives.
Last week, the Israeli navy intercepted dozens of ships participating in the Freedom Flotilla as they sailed in international waters in the Mediterranean Sea, carrying 428 activists from 44 countries, as they headed towards the Gaza Strip, and arrested hundreds of the participating activists.
