Foreign Ministry: Continued US aggression against Iran threatens a wider regional war and deepens Washington’s strategic predicament
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates warned of the serious repercussions of the continued American aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, stressing that this escalation represents a direct threat to international peace and security, and portends the region’s slide towards a wider confrontation that will have serious repercussions at the regional and international levels.
The ministry confirmed in a statement that the United States’ continued aggression against Iran will not achieve the goals it seeks, and will not be able to break the will of the Iranian people or undermine their steadfastness and resilience. It noted that this aggressive approach will only lead Washington to further involvement and deepen its strategic crisis in the region, making failure an inevitable result of its escalating policies.
The statement explained that the continuation of the American aggression carries with it great risks that extend beyond the borders of the region, due to the potential for widespread disruptions in international supply chains and trade, and in oil and energy markets, which threatens global economic stability and multiplies the challenges facing many countries around the world.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its affirmation of the legitimate right of the Islamic Republic of Iran to defend itself, its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to take whatever measures it deems appropriate to respond to any aggression targeting its security and stability, as guaranteed by international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
The Ministry also expressed the solidarity of the Republic of Yemen, its leadership, government and people, with the Islamic Republic of Iran, affirming its support for Iran in the face of American aggression and blockade, and stressing that policies of escalation and hegemony will not succeed in subjugating free peoples or taking away their right to defend their sovereignty and the independence of their national decision.
This stance comes amid escalating regional tensions resulting from aggressive US-Zionist policies, amid growing warnings that the continued military escalation approach could push the region towards a more dangerous phase, with political, security and economic repercussions that extend beyond the Middle East to affect international security and stability.
