UNHCR: Massive destruction prevents many displaced Lebanese from returning to their villages
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has confirmed that the massive destruction caused by the Israeli aggression against Lebanon is preventing many displaced people from returning to their villages.
In a post on “X” platform on Tuesday, which was monitored by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the UNHCR spoke about the tragedy of displaced Lebanese woman Na’ama, saying, “Na’ama shows a picture of her completely destroyed home. She says, ‘Our house was bombed, and we have nothing left.’”
The UNHCR added that “while some families have managed to return to their villages, the scale of the destruction continues to prevent many others from doing so. For thousands of families who have lost their homes and livelihoods, the journey of displacement continues.”
The cumulative death toll from the Israeli aggression against Lebanon rose to 16,474 on Tuesday, including 4,278 martyrs and 12,196 wounded, since the start of the latest Zionist aggression on March 2nd.
Since March 2nd, the Israeli enemy has escalated its criminal aggression against Lebanon, targeting Lebanese towns, villages, cities, and civilian infrastructure, resulting in hundreds of martyrs, thousands of wounded, and the displacement of approximately 1.5 million Lebanese citizens, the majority of whom are not registered in shelters.
