July 9th was not just another day in the memory of Yemenis; it was a defining moment, encapsulating a chapter in the long record of crimes committed by the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression against the Yemeni people throughout the years of war. On this day, airstrikes repeatedly targeted public markets, service facilities, tourist and agricultural areas, public roads, and civilian homes, confirming a consistent pattern of targeting people, their livelihoods, and infrastructure across various governorates.
The documented events of this day reveal how civilian objects were turned into direct targets of bombing, and how the attacks extended from markets, schools and government complexes to communications networks and economic facilities, in conjunction with artillery and missile shelling that targeted border villages and residential neighborhoods, in a picture that reflects the extent of the violations to which Yemenis have been subjected throughout the years of aggression.
2015.. Markets and civilian facilities targeted by aggression raids
July 9, 2015 witnessed one of the bloodiest days, as ten citizens were killed in an airstrike that targeted the Al-Naqil checkpoint in the Farhat Nahm area on the road linking Sana’a and Marib, while the Al-Hafa area in the capital was subjected to a series of other airstrikes.
In Amran Governorate, the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression aircraft committed a new massacre by targeting the Khaywan popular market in Houth district, which led to the martyrdom of seven citizens. The bombing also targeted a fuel station and the public road in Wadi Khamer, in a direct targeting of civilian facilities.
The aggression raids extended to Saada Governorate, where the Al-Atfin market in Kataf district was targeted, resulting in the injury of three citizens. The Al-Malahiz, Al-Saifi, Al-Saddad and Al-Jisr areas in Akwan were also subjected to separate raids, coinciding with Saudi artillery shelling that targeted the Ayash area in the border district of Munabbih.
In Dhamar Governorate, the air force targeted the educational complex and a number of sites in the Hamam Ali tourist and agricultural area in Al-Manar district, causing widespread destruction to the complex and neighboring buildings. The raids also hit the Samah camp.
The attacks did not stop there, as the aggression aircraft targeted the Central Security Camp in Al-Bayda city, the government complex in Al-Hazm city in Al-Jawf Governorate, in addition to the Al-Damna area in Al-Sayani district in Ibb Governorate.
2016: Continuous escalation and ground and air bombardment of several governorates
On July 9, 2016, the aggression aircraft continued to launch raids on Al-Maslub district in Al-Jawf governorate and Harf Sufyan district in Amran governorate, while the aggression mercenaries intensified their artillery shelling on the areas of Kahbub in Lahj governorate, and Al-Sarari, Al-Wazi’iyah and Dhubab in Taiz governorate.
The Nehm district in Sana’a governorate was subjected to six air raids targeting the Al-Dhaboua and Al-Salta areas, coinciding with a missile bombardment that targeted the Bani Bariq area, while the mercenaries rained dozens of Katyusha rockets on the villages of Al Hajlan, Al-Ramda and Dhawar in the Sarwah district of Marib.
2017-2018: Destruction of homes and communication networks, and targeting of border provinces.
In 2017, the aggression aircraft targeted the Al-Makhdara and Al-Rabia areas in the Sarwah district, and destroyed the home of a citizen in the Baqim district in Saada Governorate, and targeted the Al-Buqa area in the Kataf district, while citizens’ farms in Razih were subjected to Saudi missile shelling, in addition to raids on Haradh, Midi, Al-Ghayl and Nihm.
On July 9, 2018, the raids targeted the home of a citizen in the Bani Mu’in area of the Razih district, and also bombed the communications network in the Wadi area of Kataf, the Alaf area, and the vicinity of the night market in Saada city, in addition to two raids on the Hajar area in Lahj governorate and five raids on the Al-Tala’a site in Najran.
2019-2020: Hodeidah under fire, targeting fishermen and economic infrastructure
In 2019, the mercenaries of the aggression continued to target the city of Hodeidah, where a woman and her two children were injured by artillery shelling that targeted the 7 July neighborhood. Another child was injured in the Al-Rabsa neighborhood, and the Al-Jah area was subjected to intensive shelling with 57 artillery shells, in conjunction with the targeting
