Revolutionary Guard: Strait of Hormuz closed until further notice

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy announced on Sunday that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until further notice and until the end of US interventions in the region.

Iran’s Mehr News Agency quoted a statement from the Revolutionary Guard’s naval forces saying that attempts by a number of ships to move through an unapproved route in the strait, despite warnings, led to one of the ships being targeted after it had switched off its systems, resulting in it being stopped after warning shots were fired.

The statement added that foreign interference and the establishment of illegal shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz would be met with a firm response, warning that any new aggression would be met with a severe response, and that new enemy bases in the region would be vulnerable to targeting.

The Revolutionary Guard stressed that the consequences of American-Israeli interventions will be borne by Washington and the countries that allow their territories to be used as bases for these threats.
