US strike disrupts water supply to 20 villages south of Iran
Iran’s Hormozgan Water and Wastewater Company said on Saturday that a US strike targeted a desalination plant in the coastal city of Jask, disrupting drinking water supplies to 30 nearby villages, Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported.
According to the company, the attack on the Bonji desalination plant left around 10,000 residents in 20 villages west of Jask in southern Iran without drinking water.
The company said the strike destroyed the seawater intake pumping station and the electrical transformer serving the facility, which has a daily production capacity of 3,150 cubic meters of desalinated water.
It added that the damage has triggered a severe drinking water shortage in the affected communities, while assessment and emergency repair operations remain underway to restore water services.
