July 18th… a renewed testament to the crimes of the American-Saudi-Emirati aggression against Yemen and the Yemeni people.
July 18th marked a new chapter in the years of the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression against Yemen, a chapter marked by violations targeting civilians and the foundations of life across various governorates. On this day, airstrikes, missile attacks, and artillery shelling rained down on homes, markets, government and economic facilities, roads, and farms, leaving dozens dead and wounded, including women and children, in addition to widespread destruction of infrastructure and public and private property.
The timeline of crimes committed on this day reveals a consistent pattern of systematic targeting of civilian objects. The attacks were not limited to military fronts, but extended to popular markets, displaced persons’ homes, government facilities, and border villages, reflecting the nature of the war waged by the aggression coalition and the human tragedies it left behind, the effects of which are still present today.
2015.. Homes, government complexes and the oil pipeline under attack
On July 18, 2015, the aggression aircraft continued its direct targeting of residential areas and service facilities in a number of governorates, committing a series of crimes that resulted in civilian casualties and widespread destruction of property.
In Saada province, two women were killed and three others were injured as a result of raids that targeted four houses in Wadi al-Habal in Saqeen district. The raids also targeted the Talh area in Sahar district, coinciding with Saudi missile and artillery shelling that targeted villages and border areas.
In Hajjah Governorate, the aggression aircraft completely destroyed the government complex building in Mustaba District, in a new targeting of service and administrative institutions.
The raids extended to the city of Arish and the Abyan coast in Aden Governorate, and also targeted the Al-Dhakra-Mawiya intersection, 60th Street and a citizen’s house in Sabr district in Taiz Governorate, leaving significant property damage.
In Lahj Governorate, Al-Anad camp and its surroundings were subjected to a series of raids, while aircraft targeted the oil pipeline in the Safer area, in addition to the Al-Tala’a Al-Hamra and Al-Sha’la sites west of Marib city, in an attempt to disrupt economic facilities and oil infrastructure.
2016: Targeting of markets and shops and a widespread escalation on several fronts
In 2016, the aggression committed a new massacre against civilians when it targeted the Jabal al-Nar market in the coastal city of Mocha in Taiz Governorate, where five citizens were killed and fourteen others were injured as a result of a raid that targeted shops and a car in the middle of the market.
The governorates of Al-Jawf, Ma’rib and Sana’a witnessed a new wave of raids, as the aircraft targeted the Ham and Wadi Mazwiyah areas in Al-Matun district, and the Al-Mashjah area in Sarwah district, while the mercenaries continued to bomb citizens’ homes and farms in Wadi Al-Naw’, Rahab and the airport in Sarwah district.
The Kataf district in Saada governorate, and the Al-Harshafa, Al-Majawha and Yam areas in the Nihm district of Sanaa governorate were subjected to sporadic raids, while the mercenaries targeted the Mabda’a area in the same district with artillery shelling.
In Taiz Governorate, the areas of Al-Qashouba, Al-Hamra and Gharab in Al-Wazi’iyah District, and the Al-Majma’ah area in Maqbanah District, were subjected to shelling with various weapons. Also, scattered areas in Al-Ghayl District in Al-Jawf Governorate were targeted with artillery shelling, coinciding with four raids on the Kahbub area in Lahj Governorate, and seven raids on Wadi Jara in Jizan.
2017: Targeting of displaced persons and escalation in border provinces
On July 18, 2017, the aggression aircraft committed one of the horrific crimes by targeting homes sheltering displaced families from Mocha and Dhu Bab in the Mawza district of Taiz Governorate, which led to the martyrdom and injury of more than twenty citizens, including women and children.
In Marib province, aircraft launched three raids on Sarwah district, while mercenaries continued to bombard citizens’ homes and farms in Wadi al-Rabia, the airport and Sarwah market.
The raids also targeted Al-Maton district in Al-Jawf governorate and Shada district in Saada governorate, while the planes dropped flares on Razih and Al-Dhaher districts, while the Al-Ghour, Al-Sheikh and Al-Omar areas in Ghamr and Munabbih districts were subjected to continuous Saudi missile and artillery shelling.
