The United Nations Resident Coordinator/Humanitarian Coordinator and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative for Yemen, Jamie McGoldrick, said that two years of war in Yemen demolished the lives of millions of people.

Mr.McGoldrick explained in a press conference on Tuesday in Sana’a that the impact of this catastrophe was harsh on civilians, stressing that about seven million women, children and men could be victims of the famine that may occur during this current year, 2017.

He also stated that Yemenis are the main victims of the ongoing conflict, which they have nothing to do with.

As for two years of war in Yemen, Mr. McGoldrick said that more than 50,000 civilians were killed, injured or disabled by the US-backed Saudi war that led Yemen to more despair.

He also reported that he had talked about and confirmed atrocities, including the killing of 1,450 children and injuring at least 2,450 others.

He explained that the last two years of this ongoing brutal conflict have led to waves of prolonged displacement following military operations along the western coastal areas.

The displacement is close to 50,000 people; moreover, two million people are displaced across the country, the UN official said, adding that one million displaced people have returned to their homes temporarily due to the deterioration of conditions in regions of displacement.
