Indonesian Daesh fighter blows himself up in suicide attack on Syrian troops near Palmyra

On Monday, a Daesh suicide bomber targeted a checkpoint controlled by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) south of the ancient city of Palmyra.

Today, Amaq Agency published a photo suggesting the SVBIED (suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device) to have been driven by a suicide volunteer nicknamed Rizq Al-Indonesee whom’s nationality is  Indonesian.

Neither Amaq Agency nor Al-Masdar News’ military sources were capable to identify the SAA death toll due to the Daesh suicide bombing.

Although relatively few Indonesian fighters are believed to be within Daesh ranks, another another Indonesian suicde bombers also aimed at the SAA’s positions at the Palmya Silos two months ago while a recent propaganda video displayed at least a handful of southeast Asian militants fighting alongside Daesh rebels.

On May 22, a Daesh uprising started in the Philippine city of Marawi where some 500 militants overran several neighborhoods.

According to Philippine officials, foreign fighters from Indonesia and Malaysia were intensely present among the insurgents.
