At least 15 terrorist militants were killed on Wednesday as the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) intensified their final assault on Daesh’s former capital during fierce urban warfare.

Amid a systematic push through ISIS-held buildings in the northern and central residential areas of the city, the predominately Kurdish SDF were capable of imposing full control over the Imam Nawawi Mosque and Raqqa Train Station in the latest confirmed advances.

Meanwhile, skirmishes erupted in the eastern countryside of Raqqa, far behind the frontline itself, after ISIS sleeper cells were detected in the Kurdish-held villages of Samra and Kasarat.

Nearly four months after the US-backed operation to capture Raqqa from ISIS initiated, Kurdish forces have secured roughly 90% of the city.

On the other hand, ISIS continues to release footage from Raqqa displaying its fighters defying the US-led coalition. For an example, Amaq Agency published a video on Thursday of clashes in the Al-Kharbaa and Fardous neighborhoods.
