Palestinian Factions: The Law to Execute Prisoners Is a War Crime That Legalizes Mass Killings

Palestinian resistance factions on Tuesday condemned the Israeli Knesset’s preliminary approval of a draft law authorizing the execution of Palestinian prisoners, calling it a war crime that legalizes mass killings and exposes the inherently racist and criminal nature of the Israeli entity.
The factions stated that the law grants the occupation a green light to expand its policies of slow death inside prisons through torture and medical neglect, effectively turning military courts into instruments of systematic execution. They warned that international silence in the face of such a measure amounts to direct complicity in the crime.
The Hamas movement affirmed that the law reflects the racist policy of the Zionist government and constitutes an attempt to institutionalize organized mass murder. Meanwhile, the Islamic Jihad Movement described the approval as a dangerous criminal escalation in the ongoing campaign of genocide and systematic cleansing against the Palestinian people.
For its part, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) described the law’s passage as a fully fledged war crime and a fascist step that legitimizes the killing of Palestinian prisoners. The movement called on the international community to take immediate action to halt such policies.
According to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), the Knesset’s general assembly on Monday approved the draft law—proposed by Limor Son Harmelech of the Otzma Yehudit (“Jewish Power”) party—on its first reading, with 36 members voting in favor and 15 opposed. The bill has been referred to the relevant parliamentary committee in preparation for its second and third readings.
