Faith Identity: The Foundation of Revival — Neglecting Responsibility, a Crime That Lost the Nation
The Islamic nation today lives a painful reality of humiliation, weakness, and division — after once being the best nation brought forth for humankind, carrying the light of God and the message of His Prophet to the world. The balance has been overturned: the American-Zionist enemy now dictates its will and projects, while regimes and peoples have become preoccupied with worldly desires, straying from the essence and objectives of religion.
This crisis is neither inevitable nor the result of the enemy’s superiority; rather, as the martyred leader Hussein Badr al-Din al-Houthi (may God bless him) affirmed, it stems from abandoning divine guidance and neglecting the responsibility entrusted by God to His believing servants.
When a nation loses its faith identity, denies its divine mission, and turns away from God’s commands, it places itself on the path of defeat and hands its destiny to its enemies.
Faith Identity: The Essence of Awareness and True Belonging to God
Faith identity is not a slogan to be chanted or a superficial affiliation to be celebrated. It is a way of life — translating faith into action, responsibility, and struggle.
Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi explains:
“Faith identity is awareness of God within real life; it is what grants a person dignity, honor, and independence of decision.”
The martyred leader clarified that faith is not mere words but motion, work, and trust in God. The true believer lives the Qur’an as behavior and reality, not as mere recitation.
Faith identity, he explained, grants spiritual and intellectual balance, protecting a person from loss, for it connects one directly to God and liberates from dependence on others. When a nation loses this identity, it loses its spirit, dignity, and independence — becoming a submissive follower of tyrannical regimes and global arrogance.
Neglecting Responsibility: From Stewardship to Humiliation
God made Arabs and Muslims heirs of His message and vicegerents on earth, honored with carrying the Qur’an and guiding humanity. But, as the martyred leader said, they neglected this great trust and abandoned their role — thus deserving the humiliation they now endure:
“We, as Arabs and members of the nation of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), live beneath the feet of those upon whom God has placed humiliation and misery — because we abandoned a tremendous responsibility.”
The nation’s duty was to be a witness over humanity, establishing justice and spreading light. Instead, it has become a false witness, silent before crimes, compliant with oppressors.
Neglecting divine responsibility, as the Qur’an affirms, is not a mere mistake — it is a spiritual and historical crime. It opens the way for falsehood to dominate and allows the arrogant to enslave the weak. Every weakness or defeat we face today reflects our abandonment of the divine duty to resist falsehood and uphold truth.
Abandoning Divine Guidance: The Root of Defeat
When a nation turns away from God’s guidance, it loses its compass and the aid of Heaven.
The martyred leader said in his Qur’anic lessons:
“Abandoning divine guidance and daring to reject God’s commands causes a person to be forsaken.”
This divine abandonment does not occur suddenly — it follows years of neglect and indifference, when faith becomes mere words, worship is detached from life, and the Qur’an is left on shelves instead of being lived.
Turning away from divine guidance is the root of the nation’s civilizational collapse, severing its connection to the source of strength and making it hostage to whims and external pressures.
“How many people say ‘we believe,’ yet their actions declare ‘we disbelieve,’ for their hearts have not truly believed in God, nor trusted His promise, nor found peace in His victory.”
Whoever does not trust God will not be granted His support; whoever does not walk His path will not receive His honor; and whoever turns away from His light will be engulfed by the darkness of humiliation and loss.
Divine Guidance: Mercy and a Blueprint for Revival
The martyred leader warned against the false notion that God’s commands are burdensome obligations. God says: “Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity.”
His system is built on mercy and wisdom; every command serves human good and happiness. When God commands striving, giving, or unity, He opens the door to dignity and strength — not suffering.
But when weakness and doubt dominate hearts, people imagine that following God’s path is too hard — so they sit idle, and God forsakes them after they forsake Him.
“Every command from God comes from His mercy, and the Merciful prepares the means for us to reach Him.”
Thus, faith becomes a force of progress when understood with insight — and a suffocating chain when distorted from its divine
