Palestinian civil defense warns of strong weather system

The Palestinian Civil Defense called on citizens on Thursday to prepare and take maximum precautions as a strong weather system approaches, affecting the country from Friday evening until next Wednesday.

In a statement, the Civil Defense said the system will bring heavy rains that could cause flash floods, in addition to strong winds reaching speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour and a sharp drop in temperatures, according to the Sanad News Agency.

It urged drivers to drive cautiously, maintain their vehicles, avoid driving through flooded areas, and maintain safe distances on the roads.

The Civil Defense also called on residents of low-lying areas and floodplains to take preventative measures to protect their homes and properties and prevent rainwater from entering them.

It advised securing loose objects on rooftops, cleaning drains, and checking and using heaters safely to avoid household accidents.

The Civil Defense stressed the importance of immediately reporting any emergency through the designated emergency numbers, emphasizing adherence to preventative guidelines to ensure the safety of citizens and their property.

Over the past few weeks, the Gaza Strip has been subjected to severe weather conditions that have resulted in the deaths of several Palestinians and exacerbated the humanitarian crisis faced by the residents of the Strip due to the Israeli aggression and the ongoing siege, which has lasted for more than two years.
