Palestinian Prisoners’ Media reports 86 deaths in Israeli prisons

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office today Saturday released a fact sheet titled “Martyrs of the Shackles”, documenting the deaths of 86 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails between October 15, 2023, and December 15, 2025.

The report states that 47 deaths resulted from torture , ill-treatment, 41 from deliberate medical neglect, and at least 22 prisoners experienced enforced disappearance before their deaths. Most victims were from the West Bank and the occupied 1948 territories.

Several prisoners, including Muneer al-Faqa’awi and his son Yaseen, were killed after being used as human shields, along with doctors, students, and workers. 59 died inside prisons and 10 in Israeli hospitals under custody.

The office called for independent investigations into all deaths, an end to enforced disappearances, torture, and medical neglect, and full accountability for responsible officials. It also urged immediate, unrestricted access for international organizations like the ICRC.

The report emphasized that these practices violate international law, including prohibitions against torture, inhuman treatment, and deliberate killing, which constitute war crimes.
