Gaza and the West Bank: An Escalating Humanitarian Crisis
Gaza and the West Bank are experiencing an unprecedented humanitarian tragedy, as thousands of children and displaced people endure the brutality of ongoing aggression and widespread destruction. Continuous airstrikes and artillery shelling—persisting despite a ceasefire agreement—have claimed the lives of hundreds of Palestinians and injured thousands more, while homes have been destroyed and water and sewage networks severely damaged.
Amid this catastrophe, children and displaced families struggle daily to survive harsh winter conditions in makeshift shelters that lack even the most basic standards of safe living, while sufficient humanitarian aid fails to reach those in need.
Ongoing Bombardment
The Zionist enemy continues to violate the ceasefire agreement through air raids and artillery attacks on cities and refugee camps across Gaza, resulting in the killing and injury of dozens, including fishermen and displaced families sheltering in tents.
Military operations have included strikes on Rafah, Khan Younis, and eastern Gaza, along with the demolition of buildings and live fire from tanks and drones, despite the Palestinian resistance’s commitment to the ceasefire.
An Unprecedented Tragedy
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that the Zionist aggression since October 7, 2023, has resulted in the deaths of 71,386 Palestinians and injuries to 171,264 others, including thousands of children and women.
Violations have continued even after the ceasefire agreement came into effect on October 10, 2025, leading to the killing of 420 Palestinians and the injury of 1,184 others, in addition to hundreds of bodies still trapped beneath the rubble.
The Suffering of Children and the Displaced
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) confirmed that more than 12,000 Palestinian children are living under forced displacement in northern areas of the West Bank as a result of the Zionist operation since January 2025.
Meanwhile, thousands of children and displaced people in the Gaza Strip are living in worn-out tents exposed to cold and rain, with no safe alternatives available, as humanitarian needs for food, medicine, and shelter continue to rise.
Widespread Destruction and a Deepening Humanitarian Crisis
Gaza Municipality warned that the city is on the brink of a humanitarian disaster with every winter storm, due to the destruction of 80% of water and sewage networks and 85% of overall infrastructure, including vital roads and residential buildings. Municipal crews continue to work despite casualties among staff, while severe financial shortages prevent the regular payment of salaries, further hindering the provision of essential services to civilians.
Under these harsh conditions, humanitarian organizations have warned of a worsening crisis in Gaza and the West Bank, stressing that children and displaced populations are the most affected.
UNICEF confirmed the continued suffering of children and the urgent need to achieve lasting peace and ensure their protection. Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) warned it may be forced to suspend its operations unless Zionist restrictions on its work—and that of 36 other organizations—are lifted, describing the measures as a blatant violation of international humanitarian law. UNRWA also noted that existing humanitarian aid is not fully reaching those in need, as urgent humanitarian requirements continue to escalate.
Suffering Without Relief
The tragedy of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank persists, as the number of children, women, and displaced families who have lost their homes and livelihoods continues to grow. The widespread destruction of infrastructure, ongoing restrictions on humanitarian aid, and daily violations of the ceasefire agreement have made everyday life increasingly tragic, while hopes for lasting peace and urgent international efforts for reconstruction and civilian protection remain dependent on concrete action.
