Hamas: Zionist enemy’s opening of new settlement dangerous escalation in colonial settlement policy

Mahmoud Mardawi, a leader in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), affirmed on Monday that the opening of a new settlement called “Gush Etzion” by Zionist settlers, led by the extremist minister Bezalel Smotrich, east of Bethlehem, constitutes a dangerous escalation in the colonial settlement policy.

In a press statement received by the Mardawi indicated that this confirms the Zionist enemy government’s continued efforts to impose facts on the ground by force, in clear defiance of all international warnings.

He explained that the establishment of new settlements on Palestinian land is part of a systematic plan aimed at encircling the West Bank governorates and entrenching the annexation and forced displacement project against the Palestinian people.

He stressed that these settlement policies will not change the identity of the Palestinian land, nor will they grant the occupying Zionist enemy any legitimacy. Rather, they will increase popular anger and strengthen the Palestinian people’s attachment to their land. and his rights.

The Hamas leader called on the Palestinian people to mobilize and unite in the broadest possible way to confront this escalating settlement activity and to strengthen their resilience and presence in the targeted areas.

He also called on international and human rights organizations to assume their responsibilities regarding settlement crimes and to work to hold the leaders of the Zionist enemy accountable for their ongoing violations.
