This step reflects the achievements of the September 21 Revolution and strengthens food security and self-sufficiency.
Harvest of Resilience: A Translation of Leadership Directives
The inauguration of the harvest season in Al-Jawf is no longer merely a seasonal agricultural event, but has become a national milestone affirming that the battle to secure food is proceeding in parallel with the battle to defend the homeland. Acting Minister of Agriculture, Ammar Al-Karim, emphasized that the harvest season represents a strategic step to bolster resilience and acquire the strength to confront challenges. He pointed out that the focus on supporting the agricultural sector comes in response to the directives of the leadership, which has made agriculture a fundamental pillar of national food security. He added that efforts are integrated between official bodies, the private sector, and the community, reflecting the spirit of joint action to support local production and reduce dependence on imports. Al-Jawf: Agricultural Expansion and Promising Production
Al-Jawf Governorate is witnessing remarkable development in wheat cultivation, resulting from expansion and the use of modern technologies and improved seeds. The head of the agricultural sector in the governorate, Mahdi Al-Dhamin, explained that the cultivated area has exceeded 17,000 hectares, with expectations of a bountiful harvest that will contribute significantly to supplying the local market with grain. Al-Dhamin pointed out that this expansion was made possible by the support of relevant authorities through the provision of agricultural inputs and necessary services, which helped increase productivity and improve crop quality.
Food Security: A Battle of No Less Importance
For his part, the Governor of Al-Jawf, Faisal bin Haidar, emphasized that the current agricultural season embodies the drive towards achieving self-sufficiency, stressing that securing food is a national priority no less important than any other challenge. Bin Haidar praised the farmers’ efforts in reclaiming land and increasing cultivated areas, calling for increased support for them, the provision of equipment, and the improvement of infrastructure, especially roads that facilitate the transport of crops.
A Call for Production: A Shared National Responsibility
In light of current challenges, calls are growing to expand the cultivation of staple crops, considering it a strategic option that strengthens economic independence and mitigates the repercussions of global crises. This trend underscores that achieving self-sufficiency is no longer an option, but a national necessity requiring concerted official and community efforts, within the framework of the achievements of the blessed September 21 Revolution.
The Path to Self-Sufficiency Begins with the Land
The wheat harvest season in Al-Jawf represents a practical example of the Yemeni people’s ability to confront challenges through production and work, reflecting the success of efforts to develop the agricultural sector. With this momentum continuing, the country is moving towards enhancing its food security and consolidating the foundations of resilience, starting from the land, which remains the basis of strength and national independence.
