Iran: 3 key points of contention remain unresolved
An Iranian source said on Saturday that there are three contentious and fundamental issues that remain in the negotiations with the United States, considering that “the issues of the nuclear file, the Strait of Hormuz, and the frozen assets, if they are not resolved, the negotiations will not take place,” according to the Iranian Fars News Agency.
The Iranian source confirmed that “Tehran will not enter into negotiations on the nuclear file unless Washington implements confidence-building measures,” noting that “talk about nuclear issues will take place in the next round of negotiations.”
The source considered that “the basic condition for Iran to enter negotiations is the transfer of frozen Iranian funds first.”
He noted that “Tehran is committed to restoring the number of ships to the previous level in the Strait of Hormuz, but according to the Iranian model,” as he put it.
