Iran: More than 300 ships have requested permits to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, with priority given to allies.
The Iranian Strait of Hormuz Management Authority announced that more than 300 non-Iranian vessels, mostly oil tankers, have submitted their data and information to obtain safe passage permits through the strategic strait since early May.
The authority explained in a statement the details of the movement of ships that had submitted transit requests, noting that
77% of permit applications were submitted by ships departing from the Gulf region, and 23% of applications were for ships heading to the Gulf.
In the context of the regulations governing maritime traffic, the Hormuz Strait Authority confirmed that it gives priority in passage to ships associated with countries that Tehran classifies as allies and friends of Iran, amid strict monitoring measures imposed by the Iranian authorities on this vital waterway for global energy supplies.
