Following in the footsteps of the September 21st Revolution: Zakat, from aiding the needy to building solidarity and resilience.

The General Authority for Zakat continues to embody the vision established by the September 21 Revolution in building state institutions on Quranic and humanitarian foundations, and redirecting zakat resources towards their true beneficiaries, in a way that enhances social solidarity and alleviates the suffering of the most needy groups, in light of the exceptional circumstances imposed by the aggression and the blockade.

In this context, the Al-Munirah Directorate in Al-Hudaydah Governorate witnessed the launch of the distribution of in-kind zakat from cash crops, targeting the families of martyrs, the wounded, the poor, and those with chronic diseases, in a step that reflects the success of the approach adopted by the September 21 Revolution in reviving the zakat obligation as a developmental and humanitarian project that serves society and strengthens the factors of resilience.

Zakat is at the heart of the construction project.
Since the launch of the September 21 revolution, there has been a growing interest in reforming state institutions and correcting their course. The Zakat sector was one of the most prominent areas that witnessed qualitative transformations aimed at ensuring that Zakat funds reach their rightful recipients in accordance with Sharia regulations.

The distribution of in-kind zakat in Al-Munirah district comes as an extension of this trend, as 246 families from the eligible categories benefited from it through the distribution of honey, sesame oil and dates, which contributes to meeting part of their living needs and enhancing their food security.

From Zakat collection to care
The September 21 revolution represented a turning point in the management of Zakat resources, as it moved from its limited traditional framework to an integrated project for social welfare and community development.

During the inauguration, the director of Al-Munirah Directorate, Abdul-Ilah Al-Ahdal, affirmed that the distribution of in-kind zakat comes in compliance with divine directives and embodies the state’s keenness to deliver rights to those who deserve them, praising the efforts of the Zakat Authority in implementing humanitarian projects that target the poor and the families of martyrs and the wounded. This reflects the approach that makes zakat an effective tool to address social needs and enhance social cohesion in the face of challenges.

Caring for the families of martyrs and the wounded
The families of martyrs and the wounded receive special attention within the care program adopted by the state under the leadership of the revolution, as they are a segment that made great sacrifices in defense of the homeland and its sovereignty. Targeting these families within the in-kind zakat project confirms the continued attention given to them and the provision of necessary support for them, along with the poor and those with chronic diseases, in a way that contributes to enhancing the living stability of these groups.

Strengthening resilience in the face of the blockade
In light of the ongoing repercussions of the aggression and the blockade, Zakat projects have emerged as an important tool in alleviating human suffering and strengthening the resilience of society.

The director of the Zakat Authority branch in the district, Abdulbari Al-Ahdal, pointed out that the Authority relies on accurate enumeration to ensure that Zakat reaches its actual beneficiaries, explaining that high-value items such as honey and sesame oil are now within reach of the poor thanks to the projects implemented by the Authority. This embodies the success of the policies adopted by the September 21 Revolution in employing local resources to serve citizens and enhance self-reliance.

A continuous path to community service
The launch of the distribution of in-kind zakat in Al-Munirah district confirms that the state-building project launched by the September 21 revolution was not limited to political and security aspects, but included social, humanitarian and developmental aspects, through activating the zakat obligation and turning it into a real source of social solidarity.

It also reflects the continued efforts to consolidate the values of giving, compassion and solidarity, and to build a more cohesive society capable of facing challenges, based on the Qur’anic approach that placed serving humanity and alleviating its suffering at the forefront of priorities.
