Iranian Foreign Ministry: The signing of the memorandum of understanding will not take place tomorrow.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei confirmed that the date set for signing the memorandum of understanding with the United States is not tomorrow, stressing that the process is still being arranged and that the signing may take place in the coming days.
Baqai explained that the memorandum of understanding discussed in Islamabad focuses primarily on ending the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, stressing that this stage does not include discussing the nuclear file, as it was decided to postpone it to a later round of negotiations within sixty days.
He added that the memorandum is not a final agreement, but rather a framework of understanding that outlines the differences and lays the foundations for ending the war, noting that issues related to attacks on Iranian ships and the Strait of Hormuz file are currently being discussed within this framework.
Baqaei stressed the need for caution in dealing with this process, given the other side’s reluctance to make public statements about it, stressing that Iran is waiting for the official date set for signing and that it is committed to a path of understanding that guarantees its national interests and puts an end to the imposed war.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman reiterated Iran’s position regarding America and its presence in the region: “The only way to achieve security in the region is to end the foreign military presence.”
