Iran: No negotiations with Washington… and America fabricated the Strait of Hormuz crisis.

The Islamic Republic of Iran confirmed on Monday that it is not currently conducting any negotiations with the United States, holding Washington fully responsible for the military escalation and the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz, and considering Britain a partner in the American aggression against Iran after allowing the use of its military bases to carry out the attacks.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei denied during his weekly press conference that any negotiations were underway with the United States, stressing that Tehran had not requested talks, and that what was happening was limited to some mediators conveying messages from the American side regarding developments in the region.

Baqaei stressed that any talk of resuming negotiations remains contingent on a change in American behavior, emphasizing that Washington is required to act as a responsible state, after having pursued a policy based on breaking promises and violating international law. He pointed out that the relative calm witnessed in the region during the past few days came as a result of the actions and operations carried out by the Iranian armed forces, and not as a result of any shift in the American position.

Regarding developments in the Strait of Hormuz, Baqai held the United States fully responsible for creating an unsafe shipping route in the strait, denying that Iran had violated any of its commitments, and stressing that Tehran had adhered to what was stipulated in the memorandum of understanding on managing maritime navigation, mine removal, and coordination with the Sultanate of Oman and the Gulf states.

He explained that Washington, before the deadline specified in the memorandum of understanding, launched extensive attacks against Iran, coinciding with directing ships towards the southern route, the dangers of which Tehran had previously warned against. He considered that the United States coordinated with some countries in the region to create an artificial security reality in the Strait of Hormuz, with the aim of finding pretexts to justify the aggression and evade its obligations.

He added that the United States pushed ships to cross the southern route despite its risks, while the tracking devices of some ships were disabled, considering that these provocative actions were part of a deliberate plan to make the strait appear unsafe, and to hold Iran responsible for situations caused by Washington.

On the regional issue, Baghaei stressed that Iran is still keen to establish good relations with the countries of the region, but he pointed out that some of these countries have placed their lands and military bases at the service of American aggression, and have adopted positions consistent with American proposals regarding Iranian defense capabilities, despite knowing that this issue is non-negotiable for Tehran.

He added that the Islamic Republic considers the United States primarily responsible for the military aggression against it, and cannot ignore the participation of some countries in the region in this aggression, expressing his hope that those countries will cease any cooperation or collusion with Washington in the future.

In the same context, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman directed sharp criticism at the British government, stressing that London’s allowing the use of its military bases to carry out American attacks on Iran constitutes a clear violation of international law and the UN Charter, and is an official admission of complicity in an act of aggression against the Islamic Republic.

He pointed out that the new British government continued the same approach as the previous government, and even went further, by directly engaging in supporting American military operations, stressing that this behavior undermines London’s claims regarding respect for international law and international peace and security.

Baqai also warned against any British or international moves to interfere in the Strait of Hormuz issue or to form military alliances under the pretext of protecting navigation, stressing that such steps would only complicate the situation and increase tension in the region.

He stressed that the Strait of Hormuz remained safe and open to international navigation before the American-Zionist aggression against Iran, and that the United States is solely responsible for the current situation, calling on Britain and Western countries to acknowledge this fact instead of continuing to support aggressive policies that threaten the security and stability of the region.
