Palestinian Organizations: Israeli Enemy Expands Yellow Line, Exacerbating Humanitarian Conditions in Gaza
The head of the Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network, Amjad Al-Shawa, warned on Thursday of the worsening humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, confirming that the crisis is becoming more complex day after day under the continued Israeli enemy control over vast areas of the sector.
Al-Shawa stated in a telephone intervention on the Egyptian channel “Al-Nile Al-Akhbariyya” that estimates indicate that about 59% of the Gaza Strip’s area has come under the control of the Israeli enemy army. He explained that this area is expanding daily due to the movement of the “Yellow Line” towards populated areas and under continuous bombardment, noting that the number of martyrs has risen to more than 400 since the ceasefire.
He added that the tightened “Israeli” siege is still imposed, particularly through preventing the entry of essential materials, foremost among them the equipment and machinery necessary for rubble removal, at a time when the volume of rubble in the sector is estimated at more than 60 million tons, in addition to 900,000 cubic meters of waste scattered in various areas.
He clarified that the widespread destruction of infrastructure, including sewage networks and water lines, has exacerbated the suffering of the population, especially with the Israeli enemy preventing the entry of materials needed to rehabilitate these networks.
He pointed out that weather depressions and heavy rains caused about 90% of the tents housing women, patients, the wounded, and children to be flooded.
Regarding living conditions, Al-Shawa confirmed that the Gaza Strip suffers from a severe shortage of food supplies, with widespread cases of malnutrition recorded. He indicated that more than 10,000 children suffer from acute malnutrition due to food shortage and lack of infant formula.
He noted that the Israeli enemy ignores international appeals and continues to commit grave violations against the Palestinian people by targeting civilians, preventing the entry of humanitarian aid, restricting the work of international organizations, in addition to banning the work of the “UNRWA” agency in Gaza.
The head of the Non-Governmental Organizations Network also affirmed that the Israeli enemy violates the principles of the ceasefire agreement and the decisions issued by the United Nations Security Council, in addition to breaching international treaties and agreements, including the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice regarding ensuring the entry of humanitarian aid, amid the absence of legal accountability and responsibility.
