Al-Assad: The Abduction of Maduro Exposes Washington’s True Face… Deterrence Alone Protects Sovereignty

Hazam Al-Assad, a member of the Political Bureau of Ansarallah, stated that U.S. thuggery and the violation of state sovereignty—including the abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro—fully expose the falseness of Washington’s claims regarding democracy, freedom, human rights, and respect for international law.

In remarks made during an interview on Al Mayadeen TV, Al-Assad explained that the United States’ actions constitute a dangerous precedent in international relations and demonstrate that Washington no longer observes any legal or moral constraints. Instead, he said, it now deals with the world through a doctrine of raw power, imposing its will by means of threats, coercion, and the blatant violation of the sovereignty of independent states.

He noted that the U.S. discourse praising the protection of democracy and human rights has completely collapsed in the face of the abduction of a sovereign head of state, stressing that such practices reflect the true essence of American policy—one based on hegemony, plundering resources, and imposing guardianship under false humanitarian pretexts.

Al-Assad emphasized that historical experience has proven that international law is respected only when backed by force, and that national sovereignty cannot be safeguarded through statements and condemnations alone. Rather, it requires elements of deterrence and power capable of preventing aggression and resisting external coercion.

He added that what is currently unfolding in Venezuela serves as a warning to all countries that relying on U.S. promises is a dangerous illusion, and that the balance of power and deterrence remains the only real guarantee for protecting independence and sovereignty in the face of escalating American bullying.
