Gaza: A False Ceasefire, Daily Massacres, and a Winter That Besieges Life
At a time when a “ceasefire” is supposedly in effect, the Gaza Strip is enduring one of the harshest phases of silent annihilation in its modern history. Killing has not stopped. Daily violations of the agreement have become a fixed policy pursued by the Israeli enemy. As the siege tightens, winter arrives to add a new wound to old scars, turning bombed tents and fractured homes into additional arenas of slow death. Gaza today is not facing military aggression alone, but an integrated system of killing, starvation, displacement, and the systematic destruction of the very foundations of life.
New Martyrs in a Series of Daily Violations
Since the early hours of Saturday morning, six Palestinians have been killed and others injured across various areas of the Gaza Strip as a result of continued attacks by Israeli forces—another clear violation of the ceasefire agreement.
In Khan Younis, one person was killed and another injured when a drone struck the vicinity of the Bani Suheila roundabout. Two others were killed by fire from military vehicles east of the Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City. Civilians were also targeted near the entrance of Al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, and the young man Yousef Mahmoud Al-Harazin (26) was killed near Al-Sikka junction east of Gaza City.
These attacks coincided with artillery and aerial bombardment of Rafah and areas in the north of the Strip, heavy gunfire from Apache helicopters east of Jabalia, and repeated strikes on Al-Bureij camp and the Al-Tuffah and Al-Zeitoun neighborhoods.
Ceasefire as a Cover for a Policy of Killing
According to official Palestinian data, since the ceasefire agreement came into force on October 10, the number of martyrs has reached 439, with 1,223 injured—an alarming indicator that the truce has not translated into protection for civilians, but rather into political cover for the continuation of killings.
The Government Media Office documented 1,193 violations of the agreement over a 90-day period, including direct fire at civilians, military incursions, shelling of homes, and demolition operations. These violations resulted in 484 martyrs, 1,206 injured, and 50 arrests.
In this context, the Gaza Center for Human Rights confirmed that Israeli forces have been killing an average of five Palestinians per day since the start of the truce, including dozens of children and women, describing what is happening as the perpetuation of the crime of genocide using new tools.
Winter Exposes the Fragility of Life Under Siege
In Gaza, danger no longer comes from bombardment alone, but from the cold as well. A seven-day-old Palestinian infant died in Deir al-Balah due to severe cold inside tents, raising the number of children who have died from exposure to four, in addition to dozens of casualties caused by the collapse of damaged buildings.
Civil Defense warnings indicate that thousands of tents have been damaged or blown away by strong winds, while displaced families live in temporary shelters lacking the most basic safety requirements, amid the continued ban on the entry of mobile homes and shelter materials.
The Civil Defense spokesperson stressed that every new weather depression turns into a real humanitarian catastrophe due to the obstruction of reconstruction, the ban on building materials, and the absence of any sustainable relief solutions.
Expanding the “Yellow Zone”: Tightening the Noose Around Civilians
In another dimension of the ongoing annihilation, Israeli forces continue to expand what is known as the “yellow zone” by seizing new areas of land in the Gaza Strip—particularly in Jabalia camp and eastern Khan Younis—and converting them into closed military zones.
The Palestinian Center for Human Rights warns that this policy confines more than 2.2 million people to less than 40% of the Strip’s total area, representing one of the most dangerous forms of geographic strangulation of a civilian population.
Childhood at the Heart of the Targeting
Children are paying the highest price in this grim equation. UNRWA has warned that Gaza’s children are deprived of their most basic rights to warmth, food, and safety, stressing that delays in the entry of aid greatly exacerbate health, psychological, and social risks.
UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese renewed her call to stop the genocide, emphasizing that what is happening in Gaza can no longer be met with statements of concern, but requires concrete measures to halt a crime that has continued for more than two years.
An Integrated System of Annihilation
