Remnants of Aggression Claim Lives in Marib: Three Civilians Martyred by Projectile Explosion in Sarwah

In a new tragedy added to the record of suffering caused by the aggression against Yemen, three civilians were martyred on Tuesday as a result of the explosion of a projectile left behind from the remnants of the aggression in Sarwah District, Marib Governorate. The incident highlights the ongoing and serious threat posed by unexploded ordnance to the lives of civilians.

The Director of Sarwah District, Mar’i Al-Ameri, explained that the projectile exploded while a group of young men were attempting to handle it, leading to the immediate martyrdom of three of them. This humanitarian tragedy underscores the persistent danger posed by unexploded munitions scattered across several areas.

Al-Ameri confirmed that this incident is not an isolated case, but rather part of a series of painful accidents caused by remnants of the aggression, including unexploded missiles and shells that have effectively turned into silent mines threatening citizens’ lives—particularly in rural areas and former conflict zones.

In this context, the district director issued an urgent appeal to citizens to refrain from approaching any suspicious objects or war remnants, warning of the extreme danger of handling them, regardless of how inactive or harmless they may appear.

He also called on the relevant authorities and specialized teams to intensify clearance and field survey efforts across the district and to work toward the comprehensive removal of remnants of the aggression, in order to safeguard residents and prevent the recurrence of such tragic incidents in which innocent lives continue to be lost years after the bombing has ceased.

This tragedy serves as a stark reminder that the aggression did not only leave behind immediate destruction, but also planted time bombs that continue to claim lives—underscoring the urgent need for serious action to address this critical humanitarian issue and save as many civilian lives as possible.
