Martyr Al-Sammad… The Man of National Partnership and the Leader of Steadfastness in the Time of Aggression
The anniversary of the martyrdom of President Saleh Ali Al-Sammad comes while Yemen remains at the heart of a battle for existence and sovereignty, reviving the memory of a rare leadership model shaped under exceptional circumstances and confronted with the most dangerous foreign aggression the country has faced in its modern history — an aggression that targeted the state, society, and national identity, not merely a political authority or position.
At the height of the war launched by the coalition of aggression since 2015, Martyr Al-Sammad emerged as the man of the moment par excellence — a leader who realized that confronting such aggression could not be managed through emotion or improvisation, but through political wisdom, cohesion of the internal front, and a balanced management of both the civilian and military arenas simultaneously.
Martyr Al-Sammad firmly believed that genuine national partnership constituted the primary safeguard against projects of fragmentation and domination. For this reason, he devoted special attention to preserving the partnership with the General People’s Congress, considering it an indispensable national and political alliance in the battle to defend Yemen. He handled this partnership with a high sense of responsibility, far removed from the logic of exclusion or monopolization, placing the interests of the homeland above any personal or temporary considerations.
From his position as President of the Supreme Political Council, Al-Sammad was neither a ceremonial nor symbolic leader. He was actively present in managing the most delicate details of the political and military scene. He closely followed the paths of confrontation, monitored developments on the battlefronts, and simultaneously ensured the continuity of state institutions, the regular functioning of government, and the cohesion of the internal front — at a time when the enemy was betting on total collapse.
Martyr Al-Sammad led Yemen’s battle as a battle for national sovereignty, not a mere reaction. He was forthright in his stance, clear in his discourse, steadfast in his decisions, and deeply convinced that Yemen — regardless of the pressures it faced — could never accept guardianship nor relinquish its independent decision. He consistently affirmed that steadfastness was not a temporary option, but the enduring path of both state and people.
In the most perilous period Yemen has endured, where military fronts intertwined with economic and humanitarian challenges, the martyred president embodied the model of a leader who fully shouldered responsibility and placed the public interest above any personal or political calculations. He sought no gains, made no compromises on fundamental principles, but chose the path of honest confrontation — and paid its price in blood and in unwavering stance.
The martyrdom of President Saleh Al-Sammad was not merely the loss of a person or a position, but the loss of a leader of a comprehensive national project. Yet his project did not perish with him; rather, it became an enduring responsibility borne by all free people, foremost among them Ansar Allah and the political forces partnering in confronting the aggression.
On this anniversary, true loyalty to Martyr Al-Sammad lies in preserving national partnership, strengthening unity, and continuing to manage the battle of steadfastness with the same spirit he embodied — the spirit of statehood, sovereignty, and commitment to the people’s causes — until Yemen achieves its complete victory and its legitimate right to freedom and independence.
In this context, heartfelt condolences are extended to the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed Abdul-Malik Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi, on this painful anniversary, and to the sons of Yemen who believe in the national resistance project opposing all forms of foreign domination and the fragmentation of Yemen.
May God have mercy on the martyred President Saleh Ali Al-Sammad, and may his memory remain alive in the national conscience, inspiring greater steadfastness and responsibility in confronting the aggression and its schemes.
