Gaza and the West Bank: An Escalating Tragedy Amid International Silence and Daily Violations

Gaza and the West Bank are currently experiencing an acute phase of humanitarian suffering, as the crisis deepens under the weight of a siege and ongoing Zionist aggression that has persisted for years. Despite ceasefire agreements, daily violations continue to escalate, leaving millions of Palestinians trapped in harsh conditions marked by forced displacement and severe shortages of food, medicine, and heating, while international silence persists—further compounding the humanitarian catastrophe.

Ongoing Siege and Aggression

The Gaza Strip is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis due to the continued blockade imposed for years and the prevention of essential shelter and heating supplies from entering the territory. The crisis has worsened with declining temperatures, leading to the deaths of ten children since the beginning of winter, including three-month-old infant Ali Abu Zour.

The continued closure of the Rafah crossing has further deepened the humanitarian crisis, while eastern areas of Gaza have witnessed systematic demolition and destruction of buildings located behind what is known as the “Yellow Line,” from the southern to the northern parts of the Strip. Displacement camps and residential homes have been targeted, placing residents in a dual tragedy of bombardment and deprivation of basic necessities.

Martyrs and Casualties Toll

These violations are reflected in official figures. On Saturday, January 24, 2026, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced four new martyrs and twelve injuries over the past 48 hours, while ambulance crews remain unable to reach some victims trapped under rubble or lying in roadways.

The total number of martyrs since the start of the aggression on October 7, 2023, has reached 71,654, with 171,391 wounded. Since the ceasefire on October 11, 481 Palestinians have been martyred and 1,313 others injured, with 713 bodies recovered, underscoring the persistence of suffering despite international agreements.

Expansion in Al-Tuffah Neighborhood

Amid the ongoing siege, the enemy continues to expand the so-called “Yellow Line” inside Gaza City’s Al-Tuffah neighborhood, moving concrete barriers approximately 200 meters into Palestinian territory and demolishing at least 40 buildings, effectively turning the area into scorched land. The entity has also established six new military fortifications and continues to fire repeatedly at surrounding areas, in clear violation of agreements, further destabilizing the field and humanitarian situation in the Strip.

Testimonies from Al-Masirah Correspondents

Field testimonies reflect the deteriorating humanitarian reality. Correspondent Doaa Rawqa confirmed the worsening conditions in Gaza, noting the continued ban on the entry of basic supplies and the severe impact of extreme cold on children and patients.

In the West Bank and Jerusalem, correspondent Hatem Hamdan reported that residents are subjected to more than 1,000 attacks weekly, including home raids, demolitions, arrests, targeting of farmers, and the displacement of approximately 100 Palestinian families over the past two weeks—demonstrating that the aggression targets both land and people simultaneously.

Systematic Displacement and Daily Targeting

In the same context, Hamas leader Mahmoud Mardawi stated that the displacement of Palestinian families from the Shalal Al-Auja community in Jericho—following the earlier displacement of 94 families and the addition of 15 more—constitutes a systematic uprooting process aimed at emptying the land of its indigenous population.

Mardawi added that international silence regarding these violations paves the way for the displacement of additional Palestinian communities, urging the international community to take urgent action to halt settlement expansion and impose deterrent sanctions on the occupation to protect civilians and curb the worsening humanitarian crisis.

Health Situation and Humanitarian Needs

The health situation highlights the severity of conditions facing the population. Amjad Al-Shawa, head of the Palestinian NGOs Network, stated that approximately 18,500 patients are in urgent need of medical treatment outside Gaza, amid severe shortages of food and medicine and the adverse impact of extreme cold on children’s health.

Al-Shawa added that Zionist control over Gaza’s territory has increased from 53% prior to the ceasefire to over 60%, while the siege continues and essential aid remains blocked from reaching nearly 2.4 million Palestinians, rendering the humanitarian situation catastrophic and rapidly deteriorating.

International Warnings

On the international front, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini warned that the West Bank is facing its worst humanitaria
