Indiscriminate Gunfire Along the Border: Injury of a Citizen and an African Migrant in Saada Exposes Saudi Arabia’s Ongoing Targeting Policy
Bloodshed continues along the border strip of Saada Governorate as a result of repeated Saudi attacks, in a scene that reflects a systematic aggressive policy that makes no distinction between Yemenis and migrants, nor between men and women—confirming that the targeting of civilians has become a fixed pattern in Saudi conduct.
In a new incident, a Yemeni citizen and an African migrant were injured on Wednesday by gunfire from the Saudi army opposite the Al Al-Sheikh area in the border district of Munabbih. The attack directly targeted unarmed civilians inside populated areas, according to local media sources in Saada Governorate.
This crime was not isolated in time. Earlier the same day, a young man was injured by Saudi gunfire opposite the border district of Shada, in a clear continuation of the daily pattern of targeting residents in border districts.
On Tuesday morning, another citizen was reported injured by Saudi gunfire in the border district of Qatabir, adding yet another incident to a long record of violations that deliberately target civilians and turn border areas into open fields for Saudi fire.
Field evidence confirms that African migrants have also become direct targets of these attacks, in a blatant violation of all international laws and norms that criminalize the targeting of civilians—especially vulnerable groups—revealing the racist and criminal nature of these assaults.
Border areas in Saada continue to witness ongoing attacks, including sniper fire, small-arms fire, and artillery shelling, targeting civilians, travelers, and people working on their land, as part of a policy aimed at spreading terror, inflicting maximum harm on residents, and depopulating border villages.
Amid this continuous escalation, a troubling international silence hangs over these documented crimes, encouraging Saudi forces to persist in their violations without accountability and exposing the double standards applied internationally when dealing with the suffering of Yemeni civilians and migrants.
These crimes remain a living testament to the reality of the aggression and further proof that what is happening in Saada is not a series of isolated incidents, but a fixed, bloody approach that will not fade with time, leaving lasting scars on both the land and its people.
