“Palestinian Prisoners’ Club”: International Solidarity as Conscience Awakening

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club stated that the expansion of international solidarity campaigns with Palestinian prisoners has transcended symbolic gestures and become an influential factor in confronting the occupation system. It considers this an expression of the awakening of the global human conscience during the most critical phase of the Palestinian cause.

It clarified that the occupation prisons have turned into central arenas for the crime of genocide, where policies of physical and psychological torture, slow killing, starvation, and denial of treatment are practiced, outside any legal or humanitarian framework. It pointed out that over 100 Palestinian prisoners have been martyred since October 7, 2023, and more than 21,000 Palestinians have been arrested over two years in the West Bank and Gaza.

The Club affirmed that international movements constitute a direct condemnation of international silence and impotence, contribute to dismantling the occupation’s narrative, and re-categorize what is happening as genocide crimes and crimes against humanity. It called for continuing international mobilization and pressure to stop the crimes against prisoners, hold the occupation accountable, and impose economic, cultural, and academic boycotts on it.

It revealed that the number of prisoners and detainees in occupation prisons has exceeded 9,350 as of early January, including 56 female prisoners and 350 children, in addition to 3,385 administrative detainees and 1,237 classified as “illegal combatants.” It indicated that nearly half of the detainees are held without charges.
