February 8th: Another Day in the Chronicle of Aggression’s Crimes That Will Not Be Forgotten

February 8th marks a bloody chapter in the Yemeni national memory, as it revisits the crimes committed by the American-Saudi-Emirati aggression against the Yemeni people. These crimes included airstrikes, artillery shelling, and missile attacks targeting civilians, their property, and infrastructure across various governorates, in flagrant violation of all international laws and norms.

On this day, the attacks were not directed at military targets, but rather at villages, homes, markets, schools, and public roads, leaving behind martyrs, wounded, and widespread damage to public and private property. This was all part of a systematic policy aimed at inflicting maximum harm on civilians.

2016: Destruction of Agriculture and Homes, and Targeting of Vital Roads

On February 8, 2016, the Saudi-led coalition launched 12 airstrikes on the areas of Baran, Al-Dajrain, Dhaboua, and Masoura, and five airstrikes on the areas of Malh, Dhaboua, Bani Shakwan, and Jabal Al-Madfoun in the Nihm district of Sana’a Governorate, resulting in significant damage to agricultural lands and civilian homes.

The coalition also targeted the village of Al Hazim in Ma’rib Governorate, the mountain range and Al-Amri intersection in the Dhubab district of Taiz Governorate, and launched a series of airstrikes on the Al-Duhay district and the political office in the commercial district of Al-Mina’a in Hodeidah Governorate.

In Al-Jawf Governorate, a drone launched several airstrikes on the Al-Ghayl district, in a dangerous escalation reflecting the widening scope of the aerial bombardment.

2017: Children Under Bombardment and Expanding Targeting

On February 8, 2017, a horrific crime occurred when three children were killed and others injured in an airstrike by the Saudi-led coalition on their home in the Baqim district of Sa’dah Governorate.

The enemy aircraft launched six raids on the Bilad al-Rus district and five raids on the Nihm district in Sana’a Governorate, causing significant damage to civilian homes and property.

A drone also launched two raids on the Sirwah district in Ma’rib Governorate, and warplanes targeted the same district with one raid. Meanwhile, mercenaries targeted civilian homes in the al-Matun district of al-Jawf Governorate with heavy weapons.

The aggression aircraft launched 13 raids on the Midi and Haradh districts in Hajjah Governorate, two raids on the al-Amri area in the Dhubab district, and one raid on the Azzan area in the al-Wazi’iyah district of Taiz Governorate.

2018: Targeting Journalists, Families, and Schools

On February 8, 2018, Abdullah al-Muntasir, a cameraman for Al-Sahat TV, was killed in airstrikes by the aggression aircraft on the Hays district in al-Hudaydah Governorate. A poultry transport vehicle was also targeted in an airstrike on the road between the al-Jarahi and Zabid districts, resulting in its destruction.

Seven civilians, including women and children from the family of Ali Hussein Ashal, were killed in two airstrikes that targeted their home in the Salba area of ​​Khabb wa ash-Sha’af district in Al-Jawf Governorate. The coalition warplanes also launched 12 airstrikes on the Al-Yatma area in the same district.

In Sa’dah Governorate, the coalition warplanes targeted a school in the Al Ali area of ​​the Razih border district with one airstrike, and the Mandabah area of ​​Baqim district with two airstrikes. They also launched two airstrikes on Wadi Jara in Jizan and one on Majazah in Asir.

The coalition warplanes also launched six airstrikes on Harf Sufyan district in Amran Governorate, ten airstrikes on Haradh and Midi districts in Hajjah Governorate, and three airstrikes east of Sabr in Taiz Governorate.

2019: Field Escalation and Violations in Hodeidah

On February 8, 2019, a civilian was killed by coalition mercenaries at the As-Sawfa’i checkpoint in the Qaniyah area of ​​Al-Bayda Governorate.

Two civilians were killed in a mercenary attack on Al-Fars village in Al-Tuhayta district of Hodeidah governorate. The mercenaries shelled the eastern and southern parts of the district, as well as Al-Shajan village in Al-Durayhimi district, with more than 25 artillery shells. They also targeted the Al-Zafran and Mahall Al-Sheikh areas in Kilo 16, and shelled the eastern side of Hodeidah airport.

The Saudi-led coalition warplanes launched intensive airstrikes on the Al-Atfin and Al-Aqiq areas in the border district of Kataf in Saada governorate, targeting civilian vehicles and property.

2020: Heavy shelling of residential areas and the establishment of fortifications

On February 8, 2020, two civilians were injured in an intense mercenary attack on the Kilo 16 area in Al-Durayhimi district of Hodeidah governorate, using Katyusha rockets and artillery shells.

The city of Al-Durayhimi and the 7th of July residential neighborhoods were subjected to heavy shelling that damaged civilian homes. Mercenaries also targeted civilian homes and farms in the Al-Rabsah, Al-Jabaliyah, Al-Tuhayta, and Hays areas with dozens of shells. The Saudi-led coalition warplanes launched ten airstrikes on the Naqil Farha Nahm area in Sana’a Governorate, as well as airstrikes on the governorates of Al-Jawf and Najran.

2021–2023: Continued Airstrikes and Violations

On February 8, 2021, the coalition warplanes launched three airstrikes on the Sarwah district in Ma’rib Governorate.

On February 8, 2022, a civilian was killed and four others were wounded by Saudi artillery shelling of the Al-Maftah and Al-Raqw areas in the Munabbih district of Sa’dah Governorate. This coincided with dozens of airstrikes on the governorates of Sana’a, Ma’rib, Al-Jawf, Hajjah, and the capital city of Sana’a.

On February 8, 2023, reconnaissance aircraft launched an airstrike on the Hays district in Al-Hudaydah Governorate, and mercenaries established new fortifications in the Al-Jabaliyah area of ​​the At-Tuhayta district, while artillery shelling continued on several areas.

An Unforgettable Memory… and Crimes That Will Not Go Unpunished

February 8th, like other bloody days, confirms that the American-Saudi-Emirati aggression launched an open war against the Yemeni people and their very foundations, employing every tool of killing and destruction.

Despite the scale and scope of these crimes, the Yemeni people have remained steadfast, writing a new chapter in the history of resistance with the blood of their martyrs, and affirming that these crimes will remain a living testament that will not be forgotten with the passage of time.
